The Mackerel is found in the Mediterranean sea, Black sea and the North Atlantic Ocean from Madeira and Azora islands up to the northern coast of Norway. For the past year it has migrated into the Icelandic fisheries jurisdiction incident to increasing warmth in the ocean surrounding the country. It is believed that over a million tons of Mackerel migrated to the Icelandic fisheries jurisdiction in the summer of 2010.
